I would like to see more of these type symposia in more locations, and would love to expand jumper breeding even more in the USA.

EQUESTRIAN WORLD UNITES FOR CHARITY & CHANCE AT POKER TOURNAMENT & DINNER DURING WINTER EQUESTRIAN FESTIVAL
(Sunday, March 13, 2011 – 6:30 PM to Midnight)
Wellington, FL – December 7, 2010 – Olympic show jumping medalist Margie Engle and Liliane Stransky, the President of the international children’s charity Step By Step Foundation, will host the “All In For Charity” poker tournament and benefit dinner on Sunday evening, March 13, 2011. The International Tent at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, FL will be transformed into a colorful casino where guests will enjoy fine dining, auctions, and gaming beginning at 6:30 PM! Funds raised at this year’s event will be used to help stop the spread of Cholera, those left homeless by Hurricane Tomas, and children in need in Haiti.
Familiar faces at the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEGF), including Olympians Chris Kappler, Jimmy and Danielle Torano, international course designer Olaf Peterson, Stransky Mission Farm’s head trainer and rider Hector Florentino, and ESP’s CEO Mark Bellissimo, will be among the supporters invited back for this evening of charity and chance. The International Tent entrance is at 3426 Equestrian Road in Wellington, FL.
Funds raised during inaugural event were used to finish building the Tipa Tipa Elementary School and to support relief efforts in Haiti following the devastating earthquake in January 2010. “We had planned on hosting the benefit to raise funds to complete the school in Lahaie,” recalled Stransky, who founded the international children’s charity 7 years ago. “We doubled our efforts after the devastating earthquake that killed and injured so many. We had two goals last year; completing our school and offering as much assistance as we could Haitian relief. Step By Step’s school opened in October 2010, giving 596 youngsters a chance for a proper education. When Hurricane Tomas destroyed the village, the Tipa Tipa School was the only building left standing and became a refuge for 167 families who were left homeless after the storm.”
Engle will once again act as Chair, making the rounds at the tables and giving players the opportunity to test their poker skills against the show jumping champion. “The equestrian community is an international one, and we hope they come out en force. We want to support children from all countries who need our assistance, especially children with disabilities,” stated the show jumping veteran and 10-time AGA Rider of the Year.
General admission includes a catered buffet dinner and a seat at the tables for roulette, craps, poker, Three Card Draw, Black Jack, and other games of chance. There will be dancing and a dj, exclusive art, equestrian merchandise, celebrity memorabilia, and prizes awarded throughout the night.
Guests may purchase tickets and also tables in advance, or at the door the night of the event. Donations and sponsorship welcome at all times. Step by Step Foundation is seeking sponsorships and in-kind donations as prizes and silent auction items for the event.
STEP BY STEP FOUNDATION’S MISSION: To enhance the lives of underprivileged children by creating and supporting, health, nutrition, water, education and other programs that substantially impact the human rights and development of children worldwide, establishing holistic community development programs that can be replicated throughout impoverished communities around the world. Step by Step Foundation, Inc., is a registered 501 (c) (3) not for profit organization registered in the State of Florida with headquarters at 240 Old Federal Hwy, Suite 130, Hallandale, FL 33009.
